Andreas Fogarasi
SEFO 2024 Triennial, Olomouc Museum of Art,
Czechia
27 June – 31 December 2024
The Triennial of Contemporary Central European Culture and Art was founded in 2021 by the Olomouc Museum of Art under the auspices of the Central European Forum (SEFO). For its second edition in 2024, the Triennial focusses on objects - buildings, monuments and such like - that have become powerful symbols within their specific society.
The investigation of objects as symbols has been central to the work of artist Andreas Fogarasi for a number of years. For the 2024 Triennial, he was commissioned to produce a new work that considers the changing role of architecture in society, and more specifically the transformation of urban spaces to fit contemporary needs.
Andreas Fogarasi (born 1977 in Vienna) works in sculpture, video and photography to explore ideas of presentation and representation. Often drawing on the traditions and language of Minimal and Conceptual Art, Fogarasi’s works are at the same time documentary and autonomous sculptures. Recent solo and group exhibitions include the New Museum, New York; Palais de Tokyo, Paris; Museo Reina Sofía, Madrid; and Kunsthalle Wien.
This is the artist's first collaboration with Phileas.
