Alexia Fabre

Curator of the 17th Biennale de Lyon
Alexia Fabre is currently director of the École Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris, a position she has held since January 2022. In addition, she has been invited to curate the 17th Biennale de Lyon, which is scheduled to run from September 2024 to January 2025.
A graduate of the École du Louvre and of the Institut National du Patrimoine, she previously headed MAC VAL, the contemporary art museum of the Department of Val-de-Marne, in Vitry-sur-Seine, from 2005 to 2022. While there, Fabre ran an arts and culture policy for contemporary artists and audiences, applying the values of diversity and equality, especially paying attention to equal representation of male and female artists.
Past curated exhibitions include Lune, du voyage réel aux voyages imaginaires at the Grand Palais, Paris (2019) and serving as a guest curator of Manif d’Art – La Biennale de Québec (2017). In 2009 and 2011, she was joint artistic director of Nuit Blanche Paris with Frank Lamy, head of temporary exhibitions at MAC VAL.
Alexia Fabre visited Vienna on a research trip in July 2023 in her position as curator of the 17th Biennale de Lyon.
