Daniel F. Hermann is curator of modern and contemporary art at The National Gallery in London, UK. As curator of modern and contemporary art, he relates the historical collections to contemporary art and culture through exhibitions, commissions, residencies, research and interpretation. Current and upcoming projects include the National Gallery Contemporary Fellowship: Nalini Malani (2023) and Jeremy Deller’s Triumph of Art (2025). Past exhibitions include Lucian Freud: New Perspectives (2022); Messengers: A New Work by Bridget Riley (2019) and Rachel Maclean: The Lion and The Unicorn (2018). He previously worked at the Whitechapel Gallery, where he curated the exhibition Eduardo Paolozzi (2017); The London Open (2015); and Hannah Höch (2014). Hermann has published extensively. Past publications include Corin Sworn. Silent Sticks (2015), Giulio Paolini: To Be or Not To Be (2014) and Gillian Wearing (2012).
