Jane Alison is an independent curator, writer and consultant who formerly worked as Head of Arts at the Barbican Centre in London. Prior to this, she has been serving as senior curator at the Barbican since 2007. In her role as Head of Arts, she was responsible for delivering major international exhibitions in the exhibition gallery, including the first major survey of Carolee Schneeman’s body of work in the United Kingdom, which opened in 2022. She has curated major exhibitions, such as The House of Viktor & Rolf (2008) and The Surreal House (2010), The Bride and the Bachelors: Duchamp with Cage, Cunningham, Rauschenberg and Johns (2013) while also having a key role in shaping Barbican’s wider complementary exhibition programme by creating a multi-sensory viewing experience called Dancing Around Duchamp for the latter exhibition.

Jane Alison was invited for a curatorial research trip in 2015 when she worked at the Barbican Centre.
