Kristaps Ancans is an independent curator from Latvia. Prior to this, he was Head of the MA programme Contemporary Art at the Fine Art Estonian Art Academy, and Curatorial Advisor for The Estonian Pavilion at 59th Biennale di Venezia (2022). Previously, he served as a lecturer at the Fine Art Faculty at Art Academy of Latvia, where he became an Associate professor in 2021. Past curated solo and group exhibitions include Polar Rainbow (2022) at Time Square Arts, New York, USA, There is (2018) at the Shoreditch Library, London, UK, Complex Topography: The Garden, Shōkō Shōreikan (2015) at Takamatsu, Japan Human Nature Archive Gallery, London. He was nominated by the Estonian Academy of Arts Creative Awards, Estonia.
Kristaps Ancans was invited for a curatorial research trip in 2022 while he was Curatorial Advisor for The Estonian Pavilion at the 59th Biennale di Venezia.
