Artist portrait of Greta Schödl

As part of the exhibition Greta Schödl: Street Poetry

‘Poetry can be found everywhere.’

Meet the artist Greta Schödl and step inside her studio in Bologna, Italy. For the exhibition Street Poetry, Phileas filmed an artist portrait that delves into Schödl's creative journey, looks back on her education in Vienna, and discusses her inspirations and techniques.

Schödl became an important figure within the artistic and literary movement known as Poesie Visiva (‘Visual Poetry’). Writing is central to her art, often overlaid on natural materials such as stone and handmade paper as well as found textiles and everyday objects like ironing boards, dishcloths and bed linen. ‘Writing has to be more than just the word it spells’, says Schödl.
