Josef Dabernig at the 15th Baltic Triennial

Vilnius, Lithuania
6 September 2024 – 12 January 2025

Opening today is the 15th Baltic Triennial in Vilnius, Lithuania. Hosted by the Contemporary Art Centre (CAC), the triennial’s theme is inspired by the idea of light passing through a prism, creating multiple colours and stories. With this metaphor, curators Tom Engels and Maya Tounta aim to present different viewpoints to explore and challenge our understanding of the world.

Artist Josef Dabernig will present a new film work entitled ‘Lacrimosa,’ which Phileas has co-produced. The film follows the artist's aunt, the organist and music teacher Anni, as she performs an unusual ritual with her grandchildren, which turns out to be a farewell ritual: Anni died five days after filming was completed.

Initially trained as a sculptor, Dabernig has been producing short films since the mid-1990s that explore the hidden magic of everyday life.

This is his first collaboration with Phileas.
