Eva Egermann

17th Istanbul Biennial, Turkey
17 September – 20 November 2022

In September, the 17th edition of the Istanbul Biennial opened under the curatorial guidance of Ute Meta Bauer, Amar Kanwar and David Teh. Phileas supported a new project by artist Eva Egermann, an extension of her self-published Crip Magazine. This project marked the third consecutive collaboration between Phileas and the Istanbul Biennial.

Eva Egermann (born 1979, Vienna) is an artist whose practice often revisits activist moments and various subcultures. In her works and interventions, Egermann dismisses binaries such as health/illness, disability/ability or vulnerability/strength as constructions designed to shape life. Instead, her artistic practice persistently aims at renegotiating the “truth”. Egermann has exhibited her work at institutions, such as Kunsthalle Wien, Kunsthalle Exnergasse and Kunstraum Niederösterreich, among others.
