Amira Ben Saoud
Culture Editor
Der Standard, Vienna
Amira Ben Saoud studied classical philology, art history and comparative literature in Vienna. In 2013 she began writing for the Austrian pop culture magazine The Gap and served as it’s editor-in-chief from 2016 to 2017. Since 2019 she has been working for the Austrian daily newspaper DER STANDARD as a culture editor with a focus on pop culture, literature and contemporary art. She just finished writing her debut novel. Her interests include playing badminton and explaining the difference between “anscheinend” (seemingly = the assumption that something is as it seems to be) and “scheinbar” (ostensibly = something only appears to be, but is not actually so), to everybody, who will listen.
Amira Ben Saoud visited the Netherlands on a research trip as part of the exchange with the Mondriaan Fonds in 2023.
