Francesco Stocchi
Curator of modern and contemporary art

Francesco Stocchi is a curator and writer that looks back on an illustrious career. He served as curator of modern and contemporary art at the Bojmans van Beuningen Museum from 2011 to 2023. Prior to this, he worked as a writer and founded the magazine AGMA in 2010 and has curated the program at Fondazione Carriero in Milan.
Past curated exhibitions include Giuseppe Penone: Gestures, an exhibition on Leandro Erlich at Milan’s Palazzo Reale, as well as Latifa Echkach at the Swiss Pavilion at the 59 Biennale di Venezia. His essays have appeared in catalogues and monographs on artists including Dan Colen, Gelatin, Arcangelo Sassolino, and Cindy Sherman. Stocchi additionally published a series of visual monographs.In 2023, he was appointed artistic director of the Museo Nazionale delle Arti del XXI (MAXXI).
Francesco Stocchi visited Vienna on a research trip in July 2018 while he was working at the Bojmans van Beuningen Museum.
