Miguel Amado serves as director of Sirius Arts Centre, Cobh in Cork, Ireland. Prior to this, he worked at the Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art in Middlesbrough, England, where he served as senior curator between 2015 and 2018. Previously, he served as director of Cork Printmakers, Ireland, Curator at Tate St Ives, England, Curator-in-residence at Abrons Arts Center, New York, curatorial fellow at Rhizome at the New Museum, New York, curator at the Centro de Artes Visuais in Coimbra, Portugal. As a freelancer, he was the curator of the Portuguese Pavilion at the 2013 Venice Biennale and has curated exhibitions and projects at various institutions and events, including the 2015 edition of Foro Arte Cáceres, Spain and apexart, New York. Amado frequently works as writer, lecturer and symposium organiser for organisations such as Artforum, Istituto Europeo di Design, Venice, and ARCO, Madrid.
Miguel Amado was invited on a curatorial research trip in 2017 when he was working at the Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art.
