Lazar Lyutakov
Simian, Copenhagen, Denmark
28 August – 16 October 2021
Lazar Lyutakov presented two new works in an exhibition at Simian in Copenhagen. Shown alongside the paintings of Jens Fröberg, the large-scale installations were produced for the exhibition in collaboration with Phileas. Each considers in its own way the interrelationship between consumerism and industrial production, and their effect on our planet’s natural resources. The first installation explores the development and production of bottled water through a redesign of Voss's mineral water bottle caps and the exchange of the contents for African spring water, while the second utilizes faulty metal objects produced by Austria Email AG, a manufacturer of water heaters, gas and solar energy facilities.
Lazar Lyutakov (b. 1977 in Shabla, Bulgaria) lives and works in Vienna. He has exhibited at the Museum of Applied Arts (MAK), Vienna; the EVN collection, Plovdiv; and WellWellWell, Vienna. In 2019 he represented Bulgaria at the 58thVenice Biennale.
