Gelitin

Donated to Belvedere, Vienna

Following a collaboration in 2018, as part of Gelitin’s exhibition at Museum Boijmnas Van Beuningen, Rotterdam, Phileas acquired the sculpture Großer Golem by the Austrian artist collective and donated it to the collection of the Österreichische Galerie Belvedere, Vienna. Humor and cynicism are key elements to Gelitin’s works. Großer Golem is part of a series of works which were molded around Gelitin’s genitals; raised on a plinth they demand closer inspection while questioning the gallery space.

Gelitin live and work in Vienna, Austria. In 2018, their solo exhibition at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam, was co-produced by Phileas. Other solo exhibitions include Museo Villa Croce, Genova; Aspen Art Museum; Massimo De Carlo, Milan; Kunsthalle Krems; Musée d'Art moderne de la Ville de Paris; and Deitch Projects, New York. Their work was included in Manifesta 11 in Zurich and in the Austrian Pavilion at the 49thVenice Biennale.
