Ines Doujak

Donation to mumok, Vienna

In 2018, Phileas co-produced new works by artist Ines Doujak for her participation in the 4th Dhaka Art Summit. Doujak’s photographs, installations and performances investigate the construction and role of stereotypes in relation to gender roles and racism. Following the exhibition, we extended our support to acquire the work o.T. (Zahnkönig) and donate it to the collection of mumok, Vienna. As it is often the case in Doujak’s work, o.T. (Zahnkönig) presents a feminist perspective of every-day subjects, in this case by humorously questioning the idea of the tooth fairy (Zahnfee).

Ines Doujak (b. 1959) lives and works in London and Vienna. Her work has been shown at the Dhaka Art Summit, the Bienal de Sao Paulo and at documenta 12, Kassel. She has had solo exhibitions at Salzburger Kunstverein, and Secession, Vienna, among others. In 2020, Phileas is co-producing a new and in parts performative piece by Ines Doujak together with the 11th Liverpool Biennial.
