Christoph Meier
Donation to mumok, Vienna
In 2018, artist Christoph Meier was invited by Casino Luxembourg for a major solo exhibition, which was produced in cooperation with Phileas. For the exhibition, Meier created a site-specific installation, questioning the nature of the artwork and its relation to architectural space and the public. Following the exhibition, Phileas extended its support to acquire one sculptural work by Christoph Meier, which was then donated to the collection of mumok, Vienna.
Meier studied sculpture under Heimo Zobernig at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna from 2003–2009. His work has been included in exhibitions at, among others, Portland Institute for Contemporary Art; Austrian Cultural Forum, New York; Triennale di Milano; 21er Haus, Vienna; Kunsthaus Graz; Centre Pompidou, Paris; Nam June Paik Art Center, Seoul; Kiosk – Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Ghent; Gröningenmuseum, Bruges; and Kunstverein, Hamburg.
