Ursula Mayer
Donation to Belvedere, Vienna
In 2019, Ursula Mayer was invited to participate in the 16th Istanbul Biennial, which was titled The Seventh Continent and curated by French scholar Nicolas Bourriaud. On this occasion, Phileas co-produced a new work by the artist for her inclusion in the Biennial. Following the exhibition, Phileas extended their support to acquire a work by Ursula Mayer for the collection of the Österreichische Galerie Belvedere, Vienna.
Ursula Mayer (b. 1970) is an Austrian multimedia artist based in London and Vienna. She was educated at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna; Royal College of Art, London; and received an MFA from Goldsmiths College, London. She has had solo exhibitions at Whitechapel Gallery, London; Institute of Contemporary Arts, London; Museum of Modern Art, Linz; Centraal Museum, Utrecht. Furthermore, she has participated in several international biennials, such as the Venice Biennale and the Berlin Biennale. In 2007, she received the Otto Mauer Prize and in 2014, she was awarded the Derek Jarman Award.
