Jakob Lena Knebl
Donation to mumok, Vienna
In 2019, Austrian artists Ashley Hans Scheirl and Jakob Lena Knebl were invited to participate in the 15th Biennale de Lyon on a collaborative project, which was co-produced by Phileas. The resultant installation combined painting, sculpture, video and fashion design to question gender and society’s relationship with consumerism. Following the exhibition, Phileas extended the collaboration to acquire a tapestry by Jakob Lena Knebl for the collection of mumok, Vienna.
Jakob Lena Knebl (b. 1970) is an Austrian artist who studied under Heimo Zobernig (b. 1958) at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna, and under Raf Simons (b. 1968) at the University of Applied Arts, Vienna.
