Nikolaus Gansterer
Donation to Belvedere, Vienna
In spring-summer of 2019, Nikolaus Gansterer was invited to participate in the 14th Sharjah Biennial, titled Leaving the Echo Chamber. Phileas co-produced a new work by the artist for the exhibition. Following the biennial, Phileas extended this collaboration to acquire one work by Gansterer and donate it to the collection of the Belvedere, Vienna.
Nikolaus Gansterer (b. 1974) lives and works in Vienna. After studying Anthropology, he attended postgraduate programmes at the University of Applied Arts, Vienna and the Jan van Eyck Academie, Maastricht. He has had exhibitions in institutions such as WIELS, Brussels; Metropolitan Art Centre, Belfast; Centre d’Art Villa Arson, Nice; and Glaskasten Museum, Marl.
