For our first public event programme accompanying the exhibition on Belinda Kazeem-Kamiński, we are pleased to be hosting composer and multi-instrumentalist Eldis la Rosa for a musical performance. Referring to texts that accompanied Kazeem-Kamiński in the conception of Respire (Liverpool) (2023) and Openings (Red, Black, and Green) (2023), the artist together with La Rosa invites you to a performative reading that is both improvisation and breathing rehearsal.

Eldis la Rosa (born in Santiago de Cuba) is an Austrian-based musician and composer. Since moving to Austria in the 1990s, he has been working in a wide range of musical styles and with numerous artists including among others Heavy Tuba, Doretta Carter, Martin Lubenov and Otto Lechner. He has performed at well-known national and intentional clubs and festivals such as Jazz an der Donau, Vienna Jazzfest, Trigon Jazz Festival Chisinau, Festival Internacional Jazz Plaza La Habana, Woodstock Festival Poznan, Wiener Konzerthaus and Wiener Musikverein, among other places. Eldis is also in great demand as saxophone and percussion instructor and has given workshops at several prestigious music institutions such as the Jazz Summer Academy in Krakow.
