Kit Hammonds

Chief Curator at the Museo Jumex, Mexico

Kit Hammonds is Chief Curator at the Museo Jumex, Mexico, where he leads the exhibition, public programme, and publication departments. Prior to that, Hammonds was an independent curator based in London and Taiwan and curated international projects including The Editorial as part of the Taipei Biennial (2016); A Puppet is Never Dumber than its Puppeteer, a section of the CAFAM Biennial, Beijing (2014), and The Europa Triangle as part of Europe to the power of N, a Goethe Institut project (2010-2014). He was a Taiwan Cultural Ministry Visiting Fellow from 2015-2016 and Senior Tutor in Curating Contemporary Art at the Royal College of Art from 2007-2014. Among the exhibitions that Hammonds has (co-)curated are: Learning to Read with John Baldessari (2017); Scripted Reality: The Life and Art of Television (2018); Fritz Haeg & Nils Norman: Proposal for a Plaza (2018); James Turrell: Passages of Light (2019); Normal Exceptions: Contemporary Art in Mexico (2021); Michael Lin: Mariposa B1-09 (2020); and Jannis Kounellis: Six Acts (2023).
