Gelitin

Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam, Netherlands
19 May – 12 August 2018

In May 2018, the Vienna-based artist collective Gelitin opened a solo exhibition at the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, in collaboration with Phileas. This was the first museum exhibition for Gelitin in the Netherlands.

Gelitin’s trans-media works are based on fictional narratives, generally enacted through performances. Often, museum visitors also become part of these performances, which aim at transforming human figures into figurative elements. Humor and cynicism, as well as chaotic precision, are all key instruments in the conception of new works.

Gelitin live and work in Vienna, Austria. They had a solo exhibition at Museo Villa Croce, Genova in 2018. Other solo exhibitions include Aspen Art Museum; Massimo De Carlo, Milan; Kunsthalle Krems; Musée d'Art moderne de la Ville de Paris; and Deitch Projects, New York. Their work was included in Manifesta 11 in Zurich and in the Austrian Pavilion at the 49th Venice Biennale.
