Kay Walkowiak
Donation to Belvedere, Vienna
In 2018, Phileas commissioned and co-produced new works by artist Kay Walkowiak for the 1st Lahore Biennale. The resulting series, Rituals of Resistance, was presented by the artist in March 2018. Following the Biennale, Phileas extended this collaboration to acquiring three works from the series, which were then gifted to the collection of the Belvedere, Vienna.
Kay Walkowiak was born in 1980 in Salzburg, and currently lives and works in Vienna. He has studied at the Academy of Fine Arts (2003-2008) as well as at the University of Applied Arts (2003-2010) in Vienna. Walkowiak has participated in numerous group exhibitions since 2004, most recently at the Kunsthalle Tübingen (2018). Solo exhibitions include the MAK – Austrian Museum of Applied Arts, The Austrian Cultural Forum in New Delhi, and the node Gallery in Tokyo.
