Donation to mumok, Vienna
In 2017, Phileas co-produced a series of new works by artist Lois Weinberger for his participation in documenta 14, which took place in both Athens and Kassel. Phileas extended this collaboration to include the purchase of three works by the artist for the collection of mumok, Vienna. This was the fifth in a series of donations made by Phileas to mumok during the course of the year 2017.
Lois Weinberger lives and works in Vienna and Gars am Kamp, Austria. His work has been included in documenta X and in the 53rd Venice Biennale. He has had a number of solo exhibitions in international institutions, including Kunsthalle Mainz; S.M.A.K. Stedelijk Museum voor Actuele Kunst, Gent; GARDEN Gare de Rennes, Les Prairies Biennale d’Art Contemporain Rennes; Lentos Kunstmuseum, Linz and Arnolfini, Bristol. Past group exhibitions include Landscape: the virtual, the actual, the possible?, GuangDong Times Museum, Guangzhou; Kadist Art Foundation, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco; Soleil politique, Museion, Bozen; Ephemeropterae, TBA21, Vienna; Kunst nach 45, Städel Museum, Frankfurt; Tropicomania, Betonsalon / Triennale Paris; The Death of the Audience, Secession, Vienna.
