Ulrike Müller
Donation to mumok, Vienna
In 2017, Phileas co-produced the participation of artist Ulrike Müller in the 78th edition of the Whitney Biennial, New York. Phileas extended this collaboration to include the purchase of four works by the artist for the collection of mumok, Vienna. This was the second in a series of donations made by Phileas to mumok during the course of the year 2017.
Müller (b. Innsbruck, Austria) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, Austria, and participated in the Whitney Museum Independent Study Program, New York. She has been a co-editor of the queer feminist journal LTTR and organized the book Herstory Inventory: 100 Feminist Drawings by 100 Artists. In 2010, Müller represented Austria in the Cairo Biennial.
Recent solo exhibitions include Callicoon Fine Arts in New York, mumok, Vienna and Kunstraum Lakeside. At mumok, Müller also co-curated with Manuela Ammer the collection exhibition Always, Always, Others (2015). Her work was included in The Little Things Could Be Dearer at MoMA PS1 in New York and in Painting 2.0: Expression in the Information Age at the Museum Brandhorst, Munich, and mumok, Vienna.
